BC RAHA Grant — Repairs & Adaptations for Accessibility
Up to $20,000 lifetime rebate
The BC RAHA program, administered by BC Housing, provides a lifetime rebate of up to $20,000 per household to make homes safer and more accessible. For many of our clients, it's the single largest source of support for a curbless shower or barrier-free restroom.
Who qualifies?
- You are a BC resident
- You (or a household member) have a permanent disability or lasting loss of physical ability
- Your household income is below approximately $146,270
- The home is your primary residence

Federal Home Accessibility Tax Credit (HATC)
Up to $3,000 back per year
The HATC is a 15% non-refundable tax credit on up to $20,000 of eligible renovation expenses each year — a maximum tax saving of $3,000 per year. It's one of the easiest credits to claim for accessible restroom work.
Who qualifies?
- Canadians aged 65 or older, or
- Anyone eligible for the Disability Tax Credit
- Family members can also claim on behalf of a qualifying individual

Multigenerational Home Renovation Tax Credit (MHRTC)
Up to $7,250 refundable
If you're adding a secondary suite so a senior relative can live with you, the MHRTC offers a 14.5% refundable credit on up to $50,000 in qualifying renovation costs — a maximum refund of $7,250. Because it's refundable, you can receive it even if you owe no tax.

BC Seniors' Home Renovation Tax Credit
A refundable provincial credit for BC residents aged 65 or older (and certain family members living with them). It provides additional provincial savings on eligible accessibility and safety renovations — and it can be claimed on top of the federal Home Accessibility Tax Credit, helping seniors stretch their renovation budget even further.
